Hugo Portillo, El Salvador 1978. Is working between El Salvador and Austria. In 2003 he graduated in Internationals Relations from the University of El Salvador, then emigrated to Europa. Between 2008 - 2009 he attended the Friedl Kubelka School of Artistic Photography in Vienna. The photography was just an impulse for his artistic practice.
Victor Cruz & Hugo Portillo is the artistic name of Victor Hugo Portillo Cruz, Salvadoran artist who, making a play on words, divides his real name into two persons to include in his artistic practice the part of his childhood and adolescence forged by the education and influence of his deceased grandfather Victor Cruz.
He has won the award "Rodolfo Molina" (2014) Museo de Arte de El Salvador (MARTE), as well as the Förderpreis für Bildende Kunst Land Burgenland 2017 in Austria in the category new media.
His work is included in the collections: Museo de Arte de El Salvador ( MARTE), Landesmuseum Burgenland (Austria).
